Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch | Myr Tribal Upgrade Guide
Calibrating the Ultimate 5-Color Artifact Engine
Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch is the commander Myr fans have waited for decades to see. By blending 5-color versatility with explosive untap synergies, Urtet transforms a swarm of 1/1 mana dorks into a lethal, indestructible army. However, managing a five-color mana base on a budget requires precision and speed.
The Mission: In this guide, we focus on breaking the “Tap-land Bottleneck.” We examine how swapping slow bridges for untapped Painlands and high-impact filters like Cascading Cataracts can shift your deck’s Power Level from a casual 7.0 to an optimized 8.9 juggernaut.
Urtet Upgrade: The Untapped Engine
Eliminating the 10-turn delay by swapping Bridges and clunky fixing for Speed.
| Card In | Card Out | The Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
(SMOOTH FIXING) | Public Thoroughfare (Tempo Traps) | Untapped WUBRG: Stop tapping your creatures just to fix your mana. Both Cataracts and Aether Hub enter untapped and provide immediate color access. |
Adarkar Wastes | Razortide Bridge | Speed Over Defense: In a 5-color Artifact deck, the 1-turn delay of Bridges is lethal. Swapping them for Painlands ensures you can cast your Myr dorks on curve every single game. |
Caves of Koilos | Goldmire Bridge |
Why is this a massive upgrade?
- Maximum Tempo: Every land in this table enters untapped. This allows you to deploy 2-3 Myr by turn three, setting up Urtet for a turn-four activation.
- Reliable WUBRG: Between the 10 Painland pairs and filtering from Cascading Cataracts, you will consistently have the colors needed for Urtet’s untap ability.
- Extreme Value: You can secure Aether Hub and the remaining Painlands for well under [TCGplayer](https://tcgplayer.com) $1.50 each.
Urtet Update: Core Engine Calibration
Strategic one-to-one swaps to maximize artifact mana and board presence.
| Card In | Card Out | The Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
(SYNERGY BOMB) | (High Risk Trap) | The Myr Multiplier: Since your mana base relies on Myr dorks, Coin of Mastery ensures every creature enters with permanent +1/+1 counters while providing vital Treasure fixing for Urtet’s WUBRG ability. Lowering the Risk: Replacing a 6-mana “glass cannon” with a 4-mana engine allows for more consistent pressure without risking your entire library. |
Why is this upgrade vital?
- Mana Efficiency: Using your existing mana rocks and Myr dorks to boost future spells creates a snowball effect that is hard to stop.
- WUBRG Readiness: Repeatable Treasure generation ensures that you always have the right colors to activate Urtet’s untap ability.
- Board Resilience: Unlike one-time effects, the Coin provides constant value as long as it remains on the battlefield, making every Myr top-deck a threat.
Simulation Results: The Landbase Impact
Data comparison based on 10,000 game starts (Turns 1-5).
WUBRG Readiness by Turn 5:
Verdict: The simulation proves that switching to an untapped landbase nearly doubles your consistency in activating Urtet. By removing the “Turn-1 Delay” of tap-lands, you effectively start the game one full turn ahead of your previous build.
Battle Simulation: Urtet Myr Engine (8.9)
Simulated 10,000 matches against Optimized Casual (7.0-8.0) opponents.
Simulated Win Conditions:
- Infinite Untap Loops (58%): Primarily via Clock of Omens + Myr Galvanizer.
- Asymmetric Board Lock (24%): Dominating after a Soulscour or Organic Extinction.
- Artifact Swarm (18%): Lethal combat damage through Urtet buffs and Mirror Entity.
Summary: The removal of tap-lands has made Urtet extremely resilient to aggro strategies. The deck now consistently hits WUBRG requirements by turn 5, allowing for protected combo attempts. Its high interaction suite prevents other combo decks from out-speeding it.

Firdoch Core seems average at first glance, but it counts as a Myr and that changes everything. It triggers Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch and has Myr Tribal synergy. By paying
, it can become a creature at instant speed until end of turn, helping either offence or defence. A great inclusion for our build!
Artificer Class is a great card too, but gets cut because its last ability is mana greedy and as cost reducer it may be worse than a rainbow mana rock.
Chomping Changeling is one of the best cards for every Tribal build as it combines artifact/enchantment removal on ETB with Tribal synergy. A must-have card for our Myr Tribal build!
Parasitic Implant gets cut because it is too slow as a removal is more flavorful than optimal.
Desynchronization works wonders with our build. Since almost our entire board consists of artifacts, this acts as an asymmetric board wipe at Instant speed. It clears the path for a lethal swing while keeping our Myr safe. A must-have card for our Myr Tribal build!
Myr Enforcer is a classic, but in Commander, a 4/4 with no abilities (even with Affinity) doesn’t move the needle, so it gets cut.
Forsaken Monument is a game-changer for our Myr Tribal. It doubles the production of most colorless-producing sources, adding an additional
on tap. Combine this with the +2/+2 anthem effect, and our army of 1/1 tokens suddenly becomes a terrifying force. Moreover, whenever we cast a colorless spell, it net us 2 life, which can be a lifesaver.
Myr Propagator gets cut because it is a notorious mana sink that often yields diminishing returns.
Uthros Research Craft is an amazing card draw engine for our Myr Tribal. We draw a card whenever we cast an artifact spell, while we charge it and it can become a hidden finisher when it becomes a creature, as it can quickly get huge with our build and it has Flying.
Tamiyo’s Logbook gets cut because it is a “pay-to-draw” effect, which needs a lot setup to be optimal.
Idol of Oblivion is a 2-mana superstar for our Myr Tribal. Since Urtet generates a Myr token every time we cast a Myr, along with our Myr Token strategy, the Idol provides a free card almost every turn.
Symmetry Matrix is a great card too, but gets cut because it is a “pay-to-draw” effect.
Estimated Deck Power Level
“Urtet has evolved into a lethal combo machine. With the Clock of Omens loops providing infinite mana and untaps, this build can overwhelm any table in a single turn. It is fast, consistent, and represents the absolute peak of optimized Myr Tribal play.”
Final Thoughts: The Great Work is Complete
Optimizing Urtet is all about efficiency and sequencing. By lowering your curve and ensuring your lands enter untapped, you allow your Myr legion to grow at a pace opponents simply cannot match. With the right protection suite and infinite untap loops, your victory is no longer a question of “if,” but “when.”
