Update (The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth):
In: Quickbeam, Upstart Ent , Out: Ironroot Warlord
In: Fangorn, Tree Shepherd , Out: Warden of the Woods
In: Last March of the Ents , Out: Fruit of the First Tree
Quickbeam, Upstart Ent is a great addition to our deck since it has amazing Treefolk Tribal synergy. In our deck we can constantly buff up to two target creatures with +2/+2 on Treefolk EtB and on top of that giving them trample is extra deadly and synergizes well with our toughness strategy.
Ironroot Warlord had synergy with our toughness strategy, but Treefolk support that Quickbeam offers is much superior.
Fangorn, Tree Shepherd is an amazing Treefolk Tribal support card that greatly boosts our army, giving our Treefolk vigilance and turning them into great mana producers whenever they attack, as we add twice that much for each Treefolk attacking. Moreover, we don’t lose unspent green mana as steps and phases end. In addition, it has great synergy with our toughness strategy, as he can hit hard. Treebeard is a true legend!
Warden of the Woods is a nice card, but it depends too much on our opponents to give us card draw value, which is not optimal. It can’t be compared to Fangorn and we needed to replace a big drop to keep the curve on normal levels.
Last March of the Ents is an amazing endgame card, that synergizes with our toughness strategy, combining crazy card draw and ramp, as it can bring our big Treefolk directly into the battlefield. Moreover, it fits the flavor of the deck, as we can actually call the Treefolk to our aid and prepare for an epic attack (possible finisher too)! Come, my friends. The Ents are going to war!
Fruit of the First Tree fits both the toughness strategy of our deck and he flavor, it is more midrange, but its disadvantage is that we need a big creature to die to get card draw and we do not have sac outlets to get instant value. Since our creatures with big toughness are hard to kill, it is unreliable for card draw.
Updates are live in the featured Treefolk Tribal deck.
