Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus is a great addition to our deck since it greatly supports our raw power strategy. It acts as a second Unnatural Growth giving our deck more consistency and another finisher. Having both in field could result in some hilarious stats like 32/32 for the average wurm and 72/72 for the biggest ones.
Symbiotic Wurm is a nice Wurm, strong by itself, but the death trigger and the insects summoned have no synergy with the deck. Strategy and consistency are greater than individual power, and even the mana cost reduction by one mana is welcome in a deck which is mana greedy.
With double the doublers of power and toughness, there is less need for Mighty Emergence. Instead the deck can be more consistent and menacing with one more haste enabler which can make us instantly take advantage of our giant Wurms. Crashing Drawbridge can play that role and it is cheap so it fits perfectly in our strategy. Moreover, it is also an artifact so we even get more synergy with Teething Wurmlet.
Special reference: Wurmquake is a nice new card which can be a good and cheap alternative for many cards of the deck. I believe it works better on a poison counter deck though, so it doesn’t make the cut here.
Updates are live in the featured Wurm Tribal deck.
